Setting the Rendition Profiles Used by Work Areas and Folders

You can associate rendition profiles with new and existing work areas. When you create a new work area, you can select the rendition profiles that you want associated with that work area. After a work area is created, you can modify the list of rendition profiles associated with the work area, and you can set a default rendition profile for the work area.

Set the available rendition profiles of a new work area

  1. Select Folder > New Work Area to start the Work Area Creation Wizard.
  2. When you get to the Define the work area resources page, set Resource Type to Rendition Profile.

By default, the work area you are creating automatically inherits the rendition profiles available in the work area or folder above it and displays those rendition profiles in the list. If you are creating a work area directly under the Documents root folder, all rendition profiles currently defined in the datasource are included in the work area and displayed in the list.

If the work area inherits rendition profiles from the parent work area or folder, then above the list it will say, Inherited From: <foldername>

If the work area inherits rendition profiles from the datasource, then above the list it will say, Inherited From: <servername>:<datasourcename>

  3. Configure the list of rendition profiles for this work area.
    1. To add rendition profiles to the list of available rendition profiles for this work area:
      1. Click Add (if enabled).
      2. Click OK when notified that adding or removing resources breaks resource inheritance.
      3. In the dialog that opens, select the rendition profiles you want to add and click OK.
    2. To remove rendition profiles from this list, select one or more rendition profiles, click Remove, then click OK when notified that adding or removing resources breaks resource inheritance.
    3. To remove all rendition profiles from this list, click None, then click OK when notified that adding or removing resources breaks resource inheritance.
  4. Click Next or Finish to create the work area.

Set the available rendition profiles of an existing work area

  1. Right-click a work area and select Properties.

The Work Area Properties dialog opens.

  2. On the Resources tab, set the Resource Type to Rendition Profile.

  3. Configure the list of rendition profiles for this work area.

Each work area can either have its own, explicitly defined list of available rendition profiles, or it can inherit its list of available rendition profiles from the work area above it.

    1. Inherit - If this work area does not currently inherit its available rendition profiles from the work area above it, but you want it to, click Inherit, then click OK when notified that this resource type is about to be reset to inherit the resources from the work area above it.
    2. Add - The Add button will be enabled if the list does not currently include all of the rendition profiles that exist in ProjectWise Administrator. To add a rendition profile:
      1. Click Add (if enabled).
      2. Click OK when notified that adding or removing resources breaks resource inheritance.
      3. In the dialog that opens, select the rendition profiles you want to add and click OK.
    3. Remove - To remove some rendition profiles from this list, select one or more rendition profiles, click Remove. To remove all rendition profiles from this list, click None. Click OK if notified that adding or removing resources breaks resource inheritance.
  4. Click OK.

Set the default rendition profile of a work area or folder

If users typically use the same rendition profile each time they submit rendition jobs from a folder, you can configure a default rendition profile for that folder. Then when a user opens the Create Renditions dialog to submit a rendition job, the default rendition profile is preselected for them.

For a work area:

  1. Open the Work Area Properties dialog (right-click a work area and select Properties).
  2. On the Resources tab, set the Resource Type to Rendition Profile.
  3. From the Default Profile list, select the rendition profile that you want to be offered to users as the default.

If you do not want this work area to have a default rendition profile, then set Default Profile to <no default>.

  4. Click Apply or OK to save your changes.

For a folder:

  1. Open the Folder Properties dialog (right-click a folder and select Properties).
  2. Select the Rendition Profiles tab.
  3. From the Default Profile list, select the rendition profile that you want to be offered to users as the default.

If you do not want this folder to have a default rendition profile, then set Default Profile to <no default>.

  4. Click Apply or OK to save your changes.
